Learning Through Celebration: Orthodox Christmas 7 January 2007

For Orthodox Christmas I did quite a bit of celebrating without actually writing anything afterwards.

Orthodox Christians celebrate three historical events during their Christmas. The first and second one coincide. Firstly, they celebrate the birth of Jesus and secondly the three wise men. The third celebration is of Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist in the river Jordan.

Bartolome Esteban Murillo, Adoration of the Magi
On the day of the celebrations a friend, Liz, and I decided to prepare dumplings in the evening. Liz’s mother is Russian and according to her it is common to eat dumplings for Christmas, so she gave us the recipe.
